Product Description - SONOFF Dongle Lite MG21

The SONOFF Dongle Lite MG21 is a compact Zigbee 3.0 USB coordinator based on the proven and energy-efficient EFR32MG21 radio chip. It provides stable, fast, and reliable radio communication for smart home platforms like Home Assistant (ZHA), Zigbee2MQTT, openHAB, ioBroker, Domoticz, and Jeedom. The dongle is ideal for building a local Zigbee network, integrating devices from different brands, and controlling them centrally – completely without the cloud.

Thanks to its sleek design, the MG21 can easily be plugged into various USB ports or positioned without interference using the included 0.5 m USB extension cable. The adjustable external antenna offers flexible alignment options and achieves a stable range of up to 140 meters in open areas. The extended antenna design also reduces interference from neighboring USB 3.0 ports and peripherals.

The dongle comes with pre-installed EmberZNet firmware and supports the quick addition of numerous Zigbee devices. It can alternatively be used as a Zigbee router to extend the range of the mesh network and improve radio stability. For advanced users, the MG21 offers additional firmware options such as Zigbee NCP, Zigbee Router, OpenThread RCP, or MultiPAN. This allows it to be used in combination with a Thread Border Router for Matter-over-Thread devices, enabling the connection and management of Zigbee and Thread devices with just one device.

The dongle is ready to use immediately and works on Windows, Ubuntu, Raspberry Pi OS, and in Docker environments in plug-and-play mode. For those who need more control, comfortable firmware flashing is possible via the SONOFF Dongle Flasher Tool.
